Bajra Aloo Roti..

I made this roti today for RCI-Haryana. I got the recipe from the internet and this is the source. I just followed the entire recipe as it is, didn't make any changes to it.

For the recipe you can refer here.

These rotis look hard on the outside when you fry, but are really soft when you bite into them. The only thing I felt about them was that there was a teeny tiny tinge of bitterness, am not sure if that's how whole bajra tastes or it was something else. Nevertheless, it didn't bother us as we dunked them with ghee and pickle and raw onions. But if you do know the reason, please enlighten me. All in all, they were very wholesome. It says in the link that these rotis are very healthy and give a lot of strength and warmth in the winter.

So off this goes to RCI-Haryana hosted by EC at Simple Indian Food.

Those rotis look yummy. In my opinion, Bajra does have that little bit of bitterish taste. I am not sure if it will work for this recipe, but my grandmom used to make a roti called "Dushmi". She used to add a pinch of sugar which supposed to balance that taste. Sometimes, she used to roast the bajra flour too - especially if it is in the container for a long time, let it cool and then knead.
I loved your picture too. Bajra roti, onions and pickles - wah bhai wah!!:-D

Regarding your doubt abt. the event, Cooking for kids-Potato is different from the one hosted by Jigyasa & Pratibha....Ingredient varies for each month...This month the focus is on Potato...It would be really great if you can come up with any kid friendly dish with potato...Let me know if you need any other details....Thank you.

Love,
Deepa.

The roti looks wonderful. I also made bajra roti for the first time lastweek. As you said, it appears to be hard textured from outside, but it is soft. We liked it. Yet to post it.

Thank you all for visiting and your thoughts.

Meera, Sia, Thanx for the feedback, I was thinking something is wrong with the flour I got. Will keep in mind to add the sugar next time.
Meera, Yes, I remember the Dushmi's you had made. Next time I will roast the flour and follow the sugar too. Thank you guys.
