Tomato Biryani..

I wanted to make something very fast and easy a couple of days back. Was just chatting with a friend, Saritha, and she told me she had made this recipe. So I got the recipe from her. It sounded so simple and yummy that I instantly tried it. It tasted great too.So thanx to Saritha, now I'm goin to make it more often :)...

Onion - 1 big, chopped
Tomato - 1 1/2 - big ones
Basmati rice - 1 cup, washed n soaked for about 10 mins
Saunf - 1/2 tsp
Whole garam masala - elaichi, dalchini, cloves and black pepper, jeera
Green chilli - 2 cut
Ginger paste - 1/4 tsp
Garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric - a pinch
Red Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp Yogurt - 2 tbspns

Methi leaves was not in her recipe, but I added them as I had very little methi and thought might as well use it. It turned out very good.

- In a pan, heat ghee or take half oil and half ghee and add the whole garam masala and saunf.
- Once the aroma comes, add the onion and green chillies and fry.
- Then, add the ginger and garlic pastes and the tomatoes and fry well. Add the methi leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder and fry well till oil separates.
- Add the yogurt, rice and salt and fry for a minute.
- Then add water to the pan in the ratio 1:1 1/2 ( rice : water) and cover and cook till done.
- Serve with raita.

You did not mention how much yogurt should be added.

Anonymous, I have mentioned the yogurt quantity in the same line as the Red chilli powder by mistake. Also, would appreciate if you would leave your name next time, so I can acknowledge you by name.
